Tradition and Joy in the Streets: Purim Through My Lens
Within London’s multicultural fabric, Purim is one of the most vibrant days where a religious ritual spills out from behind closed doors to become a collective street celebration. This atmosphere, where costumes, music, and intergenerational sharing intertwine, offers a unique visual rhythm for documentary photography.
Observing the energy of children running through the neighbourhoods, the warm interaction of families exchanging gift parcels, and the sudden transformation of the street into an open-air stage is always compelling. Rather than focusing merely on the colourful surface of the costumes, I aimed my lens at how a deeply rooted tradition breathes within modern urban life and keeps the sense of community alive. The frames in this series are a visual record of those genuine moments where faith and belonging blend with joy.
