A Demand for Equality: Black Lives Matter in London
When the Black Lives Matter movement gained unprecedented global momentum, the streets of London echoed with an urgent call to confront systemic racism and historical injustice. Public squares and monuments across the capital became focal points where history was actively questioned and the demand for equality was brought directly into the public eye.
Documenting these protests as a photojournalist meant observing a pivotal moment of social reckoning. Rather than focusing solely on the tension of the demonstrations, I directed my lens toward the quiet dignity and raw determination of the individuals standing on the front lines. From cardboard signs raised above a sea of faces to the powerful stillness of thousands taking the knee in unison, this series records the anatomy of a modern civil rights movement and the resilient faces advocating for lasting change.
